Collaborative network for researchers working with autistic people with high support needs

A collaborative research network for researchers working with people who have autism that are in need of a high level of support has been created in the United States.

The ‘Autism and Developmental Disorders Inpatient Research Collaborative’ (ADDIRC) is a network of specialised child psychiatry hospital units that serve children and adolescents with autism and developmental disorders.

The ADDIRC aims to coordinate quality improvement, and develop a platform for clinical research in the field of autism. The network will also be looking to better understand the genetics behind the communication, intellectual and psychiatric components of autism.
