‘Count Me In’ project holds conference on vocational education in the cultural sector

Autism-Europe was present at the ‘Count Me In’ international conference on vocational education and training for special needs groups in the arts and cultural sector, which took place in Randers, Denmark in September, 2014.

‘Count Me In’ is an initiative that stemmed from the idea that arts and culture are for everyone. The project wants to demonstrate that this particular sector has great potential in creating innovative employment opportunities for people with disabilities.

The conference served as a forum to present the results of the two-year long project, including a needs analysis, the Count Me In publication with examples of innovative methodologies in vocational education and training for special needs groups in the cultural sector, a live training course with modules on how to train special needs groups through the arts and cultural sector and an e-learning hub with virtual exhibitions, simulations and educational games.

The conference also included guided tours around the GAIA Museum for Outsider Art in Randers, presentations of selected international good practices from the cultural sector, an introduction to the new Erasmus+ funding programme, and the opportunity for participants to share experiences and ideas.
