In 2022, join Autism-Europe’s campaign dedicated to “A happy journey through life”!

Autism-Europe is happy to launch the #AutismDay2022 campaign! This year’s theme is “A Happy Journey through life”, in line with the motto of AE’s 13th International Congress. The campaign will promote a holistic approach across the lifespan to ensure that autistic people can live fulfilling lives.

Throughout the campaign, AE wants to show what “a happy journey through life” for autistic people and their families is by:

  • Collecting and sharing testimonies and experiences from autistic people and their families on what happiness means to them. For that reason, AE invites autistic people and their families to complete a survey, available in English and Spanish. Deadline: 15 March.
  • Promoting the artistic point of view of autistic people when thinking about their happiness and illustrate what happiness is to them. AE launches an art competition to give autistic people the chance to show through art what happiness means to them. You can read the Terms and Conditions here. Deadline: 21 March.
  • Sharing key policy messages through different social media channels highlighting what needs to change to promote happy and fulfilling lives for autistic people and their families. In this toolkit you will find visuals adapted to Facebook, Instagram and Twitter formats, key messages on different topics and tips on how to engage online and offline, among other things.

We will highlight the needs of autistic people in relation to various policy priorities, at the EU, national, regional and local levels. AE and its members will raise awareness of various issues such as access to education, health, employment, social inclusion, community support services, etc. At the EU-level, ensuring that the implementation of the new Strategy for the rights of persons with disabilities 2021-2030 and the European Pillar of Social Rights Action Plan take into account the needs of autistic people will be central to our advocacy.

If you would like to translate any of the materials into your own language, please contact communication@autismeurope.org.

You will find more information about the campaign in the Toolkit and the necessary materials and guidelines to join the #AutismDay2022 campaign in this Dropbox folder!

On December 18, 2007, the United Nations General Assembly adopted resolution 62/139, tabled by the State of Qatar, which declares April 2 as World Autism Awareness Day (WAAD) in perpetuity. Autism-Europe works together with its member organisations to conduct campaigns that raise awareness of autism and the rights of people with autism across Europe.
