DESCRIPTION:Overarching theme of the 12th session\nEnsuring inclusion of persons with disabilities in a changing world through the implementation of the CRPD. \nSub-themes for the three round table discussions\n\nTechnology\, digitalization and ICTs for the empowerment and inclusion of persons with disabilities\nSocial inclusion and the right to the highest attainable standard of health\nInclusion of persons with disabilities in society through participation in cultural life\, recreation\, leisure and sports\n\nMandates and background\nThe Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities was adopted by the General Assembly by its resolution 61/106 of 13 December 2006. It came into force on 3 May 2008 upon the 20th ratification. Article 40 of the Convention stipulates that “The States Parties shall meet regularly in a Conference of States Parties in order to consider any matter with regard to the implementation of the present Convention.” Since 2008\, ten sessions of the Conference of States Parties have been held at United Nations Headquarters\, New York. \nThe 12th session\, per decided by States Parties at the 11th session of the Conference of States Parties on 14 June 2018\, will be scheduled to take place at the United Nations Headquarters\, New York\,  from 11 to 13 June 2019. \nThe Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) was adopted by the General Assembly by its resolution 61/106 of 13 December 2006. It came into force on 3 May 2008 upon its 20th ratification. \nArticle 40 of the Convention stipulates that “The States Parties shall meet regularly in a Conference of States Parties (COSP) in order to consider any matter with regard to the implementation of the present Convention.” \nSince 2008\, the following are the sessions of the Conference of States Parties that meet at United Nations Headquarters in New York: \nTwelfth Session\, 11-13 June 2019  \nEleventh Session\, 12-14 June 2018 \nTenth Session\, 13 – 15 June 2017 \nNinth Session\, 14-16 June 2016 \nEighth Session\, 9 to 11 June 2015 \nSeventh session\, 10 to 12 June 2014 \nSixth session\, 17 to 19 July 2013 \nFifth session\, 12 to 14 September 2012 \nFourth session\, 7 to 9 September 2011 \nThird session\, 1 to 3 September 2010 \nSecond session\, 2 to 4 September 2009 \nFirst session\, 31 October and 3 November 2008
