NHS England has published a new national plan under the Transforming care agenda. This plan aims to ensure that people with autism or learning disabilities are not living in inappropriate inpatient units and are supported to live in community-based settings. The plan proposes a reduction of up to 50% in the number of inpatient beds, and some units will close altogether. NHS England has allocated £45 million funding to bring about these changes.
