On January 31 2017, Autism-Europe’s Director Aurélie Baranger was invited as a speaker to the workshop “Domestic violence against people with disability”.
This workshop was organised at the European Parliament in Brussels by Member of the European Parliament Soraya Post, alongside the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA), the European Disability Forum (EDF), self-advocates from the organisation Disabled Survivors Unite and the European Commission.
The objectives of the workshop were to highlight issues linked to violence against women with disabilities and the specific challenges that they face. It also called for the EU to ratify the Istanbul Convention.
