World Autism Awareness Day 2012

For the third year in a row, in 2012 Autism-Europe members cooperated with US organisation, Autism Speaks, and NYSE Euronext to raise awareness of autism through bell-ringing ceremonies at stock exchanges across Europe.

On World Autism Awareness 2012 activities were organised by Autism-Europe’s members across the continent.

In Brussels representatives of Autism-Europe, the Belgian Francophone organisation Association de Parents pour l’Epanouissement des Personnes avec Autisme, and the Flemish organisation Vlaamse Vereniging Autisme were present at the NYSE Euronext Stock Exchange. They were also joined by Professor Ghislain Magerotte from the Specialised University Service for People with Autism, and Mr Nicolas Bodson, the head of cabinet for the Belgian Secretary of State for people with disabilities (Mr Philippe Courard). Mr Bodson had the honour of ringing the NYSE Euronext Stock Exchange opening bell.

Autism-Europe members in Spain, Portugal, Luxembourg, Slovakia, Poland, Italy, Scotland, Ireland, The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia,  Iceland, Hungary, and Greece also held events to mark this special date.
