Meeting of the European Parliament Informal Carers Interest Group “Young carers – challenges and solutions”- Brussels, Belgium

While the general issue of informal care seems to be (slowly but increasingly) recognised by policy makers, young carers do not yet feature on national or European policy agendas. Fortunately, in recent years, this forgotten group has been addressed by some national and European studies, highlighting their situation and needs.
The aim of this European Parliament Informal Carers Interest Group meeting is to:
- Highlight the situation of young carers;
- Underline their needs and challenges;
- Come forward with recommendations on how to address these needs;
- Explore possibilities for EU level action to ensure policy attention for young carers across the board.
