Chester receives the EU Access City Award 2017

The British city of Chester is the winner of 7th edition of Access City Award, the European prize for making cities more accessible to people with disabilities and older people.

The Ceremony of the Access City Award, organised by the European Commission together with the European Disability Forum, took place on the 29 November as part of an event marking the Day of Persons with Disabilities. Ms Marianne Thyssen, Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs, Skills and Labour Mobility, announced the winner.

Chester was chosen out of 43 cities from 21 EU countries, because of its inclusive measures for people with a disability in different sectors, in particular the tourism sector.
