Points of Connection (2023-2026)

Points of Connection is a 3-year project that aims to create more accessible services for autistic people. Funded by the European Commission’s Erasmus+ Youth Program, the project will address three main topics: disabilities, research and innovation, and inclusion of marginalised young people. By connecting young autistic people and neurotypical young people and creating a more inclusive European society based on diversity.

The Points of Connection project aims at bringing on board autistic persons to conduct a needs analysis on their quality of life to understand what services are more inaccessible to them. The final goal is to have more services accessible to autistic persons. This project also aims to find points of connection between autistic young people and their neurotypical peers.

Our main objects are:

  • Develop working groups composed of 8 young autistic people and 8 neurotypical peers (16 young people in total) in each of the 5 implementing countries (Malta, Poland, Spain, Greece, Portugal).
  • An online Quality of Life (QoL) survey to measure the quality of life of autistic young people in the implementing countries, including research and needs analysis on services that are most and least accessible to them. Followed by a report on the QoL of autistic young people in the implementing countries.
  • A guidebook with a list of accessible services for each implementing country.
  • An awareness-raising video from each implementing country on the lack of accessible services in the implementing countries.

The results expected include creating homogenous service accessibility criteria for autistic people, making community services accessible and a +15% increase in Autism Friendly Spaces (AFS) across Europe.
