DAPHNE project (1997-1998)

This project took account of the fact that concern about harm suffered by people with disabilities has been increasing but that there had been no European perspective on the frameworks and actions undertaken in this regard.

There had also been no real attempt to distinguish different categories of disability, but rather people with disabilities had been considered as a homogeneous group. This project aimed to look specifically at people with autism and to draft a Code of Good Practice within the guiding principles of Autism Europe’s Charter of Rights.
