Volunteering is one of the key dimensions of active citizenship and democracy, putting European values such as solidarity and non-discrimination into action and, as such, contributing to the harmonious development of European societies.
Here, Autism-Europe’s vice president and self-advocate Pietro Cirrincione, now vice-President of Autism-Europe, shares his experience in volunteering activities as a person on the autism spectrum.
As Pietro explains, his volunteer work has seen him get involved in humanitarian aid campaigns in several third world countries, and travel extensively throughout Sub-Saharan Africa.
