The Vodafone Foundation is holding a competition to award the best smartphone apps that improve the lives of people with disabilities and older people.
The apps were tested and judged according to 4 categories of accessibility: social participation, independent living, mobility and wellbeing. Judges included e-accessibility experts from Vodafone Foundation, AGE Platform and European Disability Forum, as well as a representative of Autism-Europe.
The winning apps were announced on December 5 and included an app that may be useful for people with low-functioning Autism called ‘Help Talk’ that assists people who are unable to speak to communicate their basic needs.
