Google will remove offensive and violent terms from search results on the topic of autism

Google has eliminated offensive and violent terms from its search engine’s auto-complete suggestions. Previously, when a person typed a phrase such as ‘Autistic people should….’ into the search field, a range of suggested endings to that sentence would automatically appear, including some very offensive ones, as a result of the search engine’s auto-complete function.

Google has stopped the offensive suggestions following complaints from autism advocates in the United States.  Google users will still be able to access the same websites through Google, but they will no longer be prompted with offensive phrases.
