Co-founder of the National Autistic Society, Dr. Lorna Wing, passes away

Dr Lorna Wing, autism researcher and one of the founders of the National Autistic Society in the United Kingdom, has passed away on June 6, 2014.

Dr Wing was a pioneer in developing the concept of autism as a spectrum condition in the 1970s and her work revolutionised the way autism was regarded. Mother of a child with autism, Dr Wing also advocated for greater understanding and services for people with autism and their families. 

The National Autistic Society has paid tribute to Dr. Lorna Wing on its website.
