EU Alliance Against Disability Cuts to fight impact of the crisis on disabled people

On the 2nd of December right before the International Day of persons with disabilities, the EU Alliance against disability cuts held an open meeting in the European Parliament hosted by MEP Richard Howitt (S&D, UK). The event provided an opportunity to take stock of the deleterious conditions in which many persons with disabilities find themselves after substantial cuts were applied by national governments to their benefits and support services.

The EU Alliance against Disability Cuts, initiated by Autism-Europe among others, works together to expose this Europe-wide social and human rights crisis, by raising awareness about it and putting it higher on the European political agenda. During the event, a proposal for a Resolution of the European Parliament on the effect of cuts in public spending on disabled persons in the EU was presented.
