The Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) Committee adopted two General comments on the 26 August. Accordingly the CRPD Committee interprets Article 6 and 24 of the Convention, and guides State Parties on how to ensure in practice that the rights of women and girls with disabilities, and of all persons with disabilities in education, are realised.
The CRPD Committee has adopted two other General Comments so far on the comprehensive interpretation of substantive provisions: accessibility and legal capacity. The Committee is currently drafting a 5th General Comment on independent living in the community.
