Released in December 2020, this report outlines the findings of the survey conducted by Autism-Europe, as well as incorporates media reports and findings from its member’s associations and academia, to bring awareness to the experiences and challenges of autistic people and their families during the COVID-19 pandemic. We have outlined recommendations for how autistic people and their families can be better supported during the pandemic and beyond.
To investigate and understand the ways in which autistic people have been affected by COVID-19, Autism-Europe conducted an online survey from March 23rd to June 15th, 2020. The survey aimed at assessing the effects of the COVID-19 lockdown on the daily lives of autistic people and their families, including their access to support services, education, employment and healthcare, etc.
