The MapAbility project- for the social inclusion of students with disabilities

Autism-Europe collaborated with the Erasmus Student Network (ESN) to highlight the rights and needs of people with special needs, in particular people with autism.

The project’s activities included a European Conference in Brussels to raise awareness among students about the need to improve the social inclusion of all students in Europe. At the event, different European universities were mapped according to their architectural barriers and accessibility. The aim was to create a common vision concerning social inclusion of students with disabilities and student mobility.

The ESN also developed the ExchangeAbility initiative aimed at increasing the participation of students with disabilities in mobility.  The initiative included a questionnaire to gather information on the accessibility of Higher Education institutions and services in Europe.

ESN is a non-profit international student organisation of 12, 000 voluntary members in 36 countries representing international students in Higher Education Institutions.
